FRANKFORT, KY (January 26, 2025) –The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 12 is investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Interstate 64 in Franklin County. The incident happened shortly after 11:00 AM at the 59-mile marker in the westbound lane.
Preliminary investigations indicate that a 2017 Toyota Highlander, driven by Earl Ragland, was heading west on Interstate 64 when it collided with a 2020 Toyota Corolla. Following the impact, the Toyota Highlander left the roadway and struck a rock embankment.
A 16-year-old juvenile from Fayette County was ejected from the vehicle and sustained life-threatening injuries. The juvenile was transported to the Frankfort Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased by the Franklin County Coroner's Office. Next of kin have been notified, and the investigation is still ongoing.
The Kentucky State Police received assistance at the scene from the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, the Franklin County Fire Department, and the Franklin County Coroner's Office.
